All Black Sage Vineyard™ wines are fermented in small lots, which allows for careful monitoring and direction. A combination of punch-down and pump-over fermenting extracts firm tannins from the grapes without aggressive harshness. The process is also temperature controlled to achieve a balance between colour, tannin extraction and fruit flavours.

2019 Cabernet Franc
2019 Cabernet Franc

The 2018 Black Sage Vineyard™ Cabernet Franc is produced from tenacious vines that for over 20 years have thrived in the rugged South Okanagan desert. The grapes were brought in at full ripeness and fermented in stainless steel tanks for 2 weeks. During the fermentation process, the wine was pumped over twice daily to enhance flavour and colour extraction. The wine then went through malolactic fermentation and was aged in a blend of French and American oak barrels for 18 months.

2011 Pipe
2011 Pipe

We have chosen the name “Pipe” to reflect the time-honoured tradition of Port producers and the quality of this fine wine. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Partway through fermentation, the process is stopped by adding high-alcohol grape spirits, bringing the alcohol up to 19-20% and leaving behind residual sugar.
